Support for Kavitha Vookanti (Housewife) and 1-Year-Old Son Samvedh Gankidi.
My life changed forever on August 3, 2025. I lost my beloved husband, Anoop Gankidi – my partner in life, the love of my heart, and the devoted father of our beautiful 1-year-old son,Samvedh— in a tragic drowning accident at the Colorado River. He was only 32 years old.
Anoop was our protector, our provider, and the center of our little family. His sudden and
unexpected passing has left us shattered. Our son will grow up without his father’s love,
guidance, and laughter. I am now facing the unimaginable reality of raising him alone, while grieving the loss of the man who meant everything to us.
Anoop was also the only son of his parents, who live in India. They are heartbroken, unable to be by his side in his final moments. We are working to send Anoop back home so they can
perform the traditional final rites and say their goodbyes.
As a full-time housewife and H4 visa holder, I have no income and no stable financial support in the U.S. This devastating loss has left us with urgent and overwhelming expenses, including:
Funeral and memorial services in the U.S.
Repatriation of Anoop’s body to India so his parents can honor him with traditional rites
Basic living expenses for me and our 1-year-old son as we navigate this painful new reality
Outstanding medical expenses due to lack of insurance.
I am creating this GoFundMe to help cover these expenses and to support our baby boy and myself as we navigate this painful new reality. I am reaching out to friends, family, and kind strangers for help during this difficult time. If you can, please consider donating or sharing. Every gesture, no matter how small, will help us keep going.
Your prayers, compassion, and generosity mean more than words can ever express. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for standing with us during the most difficult time of our lives.
With deepest gratitude,
Kavitha Vookanti
